Leadership Styles

I very much liked this post on Leadershipjot.com distinguishing the traits of the Technician, Manager, and Entrepreneur.  This resonates with my experience that the kind of IT executive who can successfully lead an IT organization through the lower levels of Business-IT maturity (technician or manager) is often not effective in leading it to the more mature stages (entrepreneur).   Take a look at Jonathan Frye’s post, and relate it to your own leadership abilities, and those of CIO’s you have known or have worked for.  Does it resonate?  How might you change your own style to help move your IT organization up the maturity curve?

  1. While leadership is often thought of a vague subject, it’s really a lifelong journey of self-improvement in the area of leading teams to achieving your goals. we can all improve our leadership through the study of the principles and some self-awareness and the willingness to apply these ideas in our teams.
