I didn’t “get” Twitter at first either. Seems ridiculous, actually: “What are you doing?” But, it’s like getting to understand the culture and language in a foreign country, you have to do the immersion thing. Start Twittering. Add a bunch of Twitter addicts as friends and see what happens. If you’re like most of us, you’ll “get it” too. It’s a way to have instantaneous access to information, links, tidbits, personal information– bitstreams of slice of life and intelligence all day long from people who you know or who you find interesting. I have found it extremely valuable to my professional experience.

G’head. Try it. You’re starting to trust me on this stuff, n’est-ce pas? :-)
