Congrats! Reading this review of your first year of blogging has made me very nostalgic for my brief spell of blogging. The observation about the "mentally rehearsing" one does as a blogger resonates with me - I found that thinking about issues as a writer made me a stronger conversational speaker on those same issues.

Looking forward to another year of this blog...

Well I for one am not surprised. Not only do you have many important stories to tell, Vaughan, but you are amongst the most gifted of storytellers--just ask the tens of thousands of us that read! I can't wait to see more. Cheers, to year 2...

To Susan and to Russ - thank you! Thanks for the kind comments - always appreciated, and especially thank you for checking in on my blog from time to time. To write stuff that gets read is more satisfying than to write stuff that does not get read!

And Russ, thanks to you for adding to my already substantial reading list! Now I have even more sites to follow!

I was surprised to hear that it has been a year since you started your blog. Time flies! I'd like to bring to your attention your most excellent blog has surpassed my own readership on ITSinsider. You've achieved what I knew you were capable of-- sharing your sage, insightful commentary with thousands of readers who now recognize your thought leadership as a leading authoritative voice on IT trends. As we grow in our understanding of how the social web is dramatically changing our professional (and personal) experience, the challenge remains-- how do we quantify these gains in terms our clients can readily appreciate? How to we "bottle" these benefits and apply them to pain points in the enterprise? This challenge faces all of us who are proselytizing on the edge of the second generation Internet -- of which, by the way, you have become a card-carrying member. :-) Congrats on year one. Looking forward to year 2017.

I too am an amateur in blogging world - amateur blog reader that is. Currently my bogroll lists about sixty feeds and collectively they scratch my curiousity itch quite nicely. Of the sixty or so, there are a small handful that I look forward to reading each day (yours, Fred Wilson's, Dion Hinchcliffe's, Tim O'Rielly's, and a couple of others). These blogs not only serve intellectually stimulating content, but do it in a manner which is entertaining and have a genuine point of view. This must be a artform and I would argue something not present in the amateur (or amaterish) blogs (I suppose a nature vs nurture discussion).
I look forward to many more posts, and if the past is any indicator of the future, look forward to them with enthusiasm.
